Viva Brazil Review

Sueli showing samba no pé
World Dance Exchange is happy to report that the Viva Brazil Dance Social was a tremendous success. The doors started filling up at 7:00 pm and the crowds kept coming all night long. Of course, our line up of entertainers, dancers, vendors and refreshments was too hard to pass up for anyone!
We started our journey through Brazilian dance and culture with a free 30 minute Forró dance class. After our audience perfected the basic forró dance steps they danced and practiced for several minutes to Brazilian as well as various international dance beats. This was promptly followed by an energetic and fast paced Capoeira performance by Group D’Oxala of Greensboro. This seemed to get the crowd even more energized and excited.
To top things of we followed the night with several beautiful and intoxicating samba dancers. Our audience was completely captivated by our extremely talented sambistas and the various types of Brazilian dance styles they presented. Not only did we provide entertainment but also delicious complimentary refreshments by various area restaurants and stores. Also Ten Thousand Villages set up a booth at our event that offered fair trade novelty items from around the world.
The Viva Brazil dance social surely gave our audience a long lasting impression of the beauty and charisma of Brazilian culture and dance. We would like to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers that made this event possible. Also we would like to thank our audience for their patronage and encourage everyone to come join us for our Brazilian dance classes at the Greensboro Cultural Center. Don’t miss our Arabian nights dance social on May 28th and as always Come Dance With us!
